Memory verse wall: Friendship

Image
Friendship Truly, as Christians we have a friend who sticks closer than a brother. If you have a brother or sister, then you may understand the dynamics of sisterhood or brotherhood. When you have a brother or sister that you’re close to, you may have certain activities that you love to do together for example, watching television, listening music, going to the beach, going for drives/walks or talking about heart matters with him or her. We can imagine then, that when we have a friend who sticks closer than a brother, that that friend must be very close indeed since they’re even  closer  than a brother. While we may have friends in our lives, who are like brothers and sisters to us, the truest friend that we have is Jesus Christ. As Christians, He is with us and in us. He stays close and is with us at all times to protect, guide, love, comfort and help us.   When I think of friendship, these are a few  scripture verses that  I think of: “A  ma...

Youth inspiring you: Tiffany

Q. Which two words would you use to describe yourself? Q. Do you have a favourite quote or scripture? When asked which two words she would use to describe herself, Tiffany indicated that she sees herself as being an ambitious and charismatic individual. When asked what was her favourite quote or scripture, she had this to say, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”, taken from Philippians 4:13. Tiffany is a young Christian who has bright hopes for the future. At the age of 18, she has already begun to make her future a reality. Tiffany began braiding hair at the age of eight after having been inspired by the work of other braiders. In her own words, she didn’t choose hair, “hair chose her”. By age fifteen, she’d taken that old hobby and began turning into a booming business and testimony. A business, yes, since now she is able to make an earning by braiding hair, and doing weaves and wigs. And a testimony, yes! Tiffany states that even before embarking...

Youth inspiring you: Camp C.H.A.O.S.

For the past two weeks, I had the awesome opportunity to be a part of Camp C.H.A.O.S. (Christians Hyped About Our Saviour), the Barbados Wesleyan Holiness Camp 2017. It really was an awesome opportunity to be able to fellowship with and get a glimpse of Christian youth in another country. Two things that stood out for me from the sessions that I attended and which I held on to, were: 1. Forget the past. I was reminded of the scripture from John 8:36 that says, ‘If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.’ 2. Do not undervalue you. You are important. As young people, this is prime time to get to know ourselves better, figure out what we’re good at and find out what amazing things we can contribute to the groups we’re a part of, the relationships we are in, the wider society and the world. I remember a part of devotional that I saw today which made the point that it is not how far we’ve traveled which matters but it’s ‘what we bring back’. The journ...
